Looks like the Sprint employees are letting the Pre out in the wild. I got about 20 minutes of hands-on time with it and it was nice. I disagree a little with Boy Genius’s about the cheap feel, but the keyboard is a little cramped. I could see getting used to the keyboard with a some extended usage. Also, the OS version was 1.0.1 and the employee said an update will be out the day of release. Looks good so far, though. Check out your local Sprint store for a hands on.

T-Mobile and Google announced the Android based G1 today. The phone seems very usable yet, the bolded print in the above picture makes me shake my head. The text reads, “If your total data usage in any billing cycle is more than 1GB, your data throughput for the remainder of that cycle may be reduced to 50 kbps or less.” Again, we see the term unlimited has underpinnings (link to terms of service) that are not beneficial to the consumer.

Update: It looks as though T-Mobile has listened to the complaints and removed the 1 GB limit. I applaud T-Mobile as long as they stick to their most recent statement.
